Before joining ChipCare, James was co-founder and CEO of Dignitas International, growing the organization from zero to 117 employees on two continents. James previously worked with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF), and was named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40. James holds a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Toronto.
Chief Operating Officer
Lynn has over 20 years of experience in the high tech sector, including executive positions in quality manufacturing process development and supply chain management. Lynn graduated from Engineering Physics at McMaster University, and holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
Chief Technology Officer
James has over 10 years of experience in micro-/nano-fabrication and microfluidics. As a doctoral candidate at the University of Toronto in electrical engineering, James’ research led to the founding of ChipCare. He was the recipient of the 2012 University of Toronto Inventor of the Year award.
Chief Financial Officer
Gerry worked for IBM Canada for 33 years in several senior roles in strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and business development, including as CFO. He is project-oriented and experienced in developing processes and practices to achieve operational excellence.
Director of Marketing and Clinical Trials – Africa Region
Laurence has over 20 years of experience in scientific marketing and sales of pharmaceuticals and diagnostics for global pharmaceutical companies. He holds a degree in technical chemistry.

Director of Research
Lu is one of the original co-developers of ChipCare’s technology platform, and has over 10 years of experience in research and development in microfluidics design and testing. In 2012, he received a Stars in Global Health grant from Grand Challenges Canada. Lu holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Toronto.
Director of Hardware Engineering
Lorenzo has over 20 years of experience in product development and commercialization. He has done research and development on digital microfluidic methods for diagnostic purposes. A proven leader, Lorenzo has managed more than 175 engineers over his career in six countries. He holds a PhD in bio-process engineering from the University of Tokyo.
Director of Project Management
Aaron has over 10 years of experience as a project manager in diagnostics marketing, product development, and manufacturing scale-up. He has led global projects in organizations such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and Roche Diagnostics.
Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs
Catriona has over 5 years of experience in medical device quality management and regulatory compliance. Before joining ChipCare, she was Quality Manager at Thornhill Research Inc. She is a Certified Biomedical Auditor and a Professional Engineer, holding a degree from the University of Toronto.
Senior Assay Development Scientist
Kelly has worked as a molecular scientist for the past 20 years. Prior to her work with ChipCare, she worked for 7 years as a lead scientist at BioFire Diagnostics. Kelly holds a PhD in microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Shreesha is a biomedical engineer, holding a degree from the University of Glasgow. He works as part of the research and development team at ChipCare.
Jun holds a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from McMaster University. He works as part of the research and development team at ChipCare.
Adam has over 15 years of experience in the area of molecular biology and biochemistry. Prior to joining ChipCare, he performed research in the areas of hematology, transfusion medicine, and infectious disease as well as managed the Undergraduate Biochemistry Laboratory at McMaster University. He holds a master’s degree in medical sciences.
Zhamak Abdi Dezfooli
Intern Biomedical Engineer
Zhamak holds master’s degrees in biomedical engineering and biomedical physics. She works as part of the research and development team at ChipCare.
Yogen holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in accounting from the University of Toronto at Scarborough. He has worked as ChipCare’s corporate accountant since 2014.

Adrian is Chair of ChipCare’s board. He is a Toronto-based engineer with a focus on mobile technology.
Charles is Vice President of Cardinal Investment Company, Inc. and Manager of Puffin Partners, LP which led ChipCare’s Series A round.
Peter Belshaw, PhD
Peter is Co-Founder and Director of Genetic Assemblies. He specializes in sensors, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and synthetic biology.
Harold Wodlinger, PhD
Harold is a biomedical engineer and President of Quinton Electrophysiology. He is a design control expert and a director of multiple medical technology companies.
Rakesh is a co-founder of ChipCare. He is the founder of Cytoquest and has over 20 years of experience in clinical testing, research, and assay development.

Joel is Vice President, Business Development & Commercialization, Medical Devices/Physical Sciences/ICT at MaRS Innovation
Andrew Taylor (Observer)
Andrew is VP Investments at Grand Challenges Canada, overseeing the Investment/Transition to Scale program.
Stewart Aitchison, PhD
Stewart is a co-founder of ChipCare, and a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto.
Amadou Sall, PhD
Amadou is Scientific Director at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar in Senegal.
Khalil is the former CEO and Chairman of both IBM UK Holdings and IBM Canada Limited.
Patrick Lammie, PhD
Patrick is Principal Investigator at the Task Force for Global Health, and Senior Scientist at the US Centers for Disease Control.
Sumeet Sodhi, MD, MSc
Sumeet is a research scientist at Dignitas International, a staff physician at the University Health Network, and an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.
